Bender Bending Rodríguez was made in Mexico in the late 2990s. As a bending unit, he spent his life before he met Philip_J._Fry, bending girders to be used for Suicide_booths. Bender drinks copious amounts of alcohol to recharge his fuel cells. When he burps, fire comes out of his mouth. He gambles and consorts with hookerbots. He is equipped with a gaydar. He currently lives with Fry in his closet-sized apartment equipped with an apartment-sized closet.

In the episode, "The_Honking", Bender was ran over by and turned into a were-car. He has an affinity for turtles and penguins. When he was shot into space, a society of tiny aliens populated his body and worshipped him as their God.

Throughout the series, we learn that Bender is made out of 30% Iron, 40% Zinc, 30% titanium, and 30% Dolomite. Obviously he was lying about at least one, becuse the numbers clearly do not equal 100%.

This is a really funny show although I wouldn't recommend it to children of a very young age because of graphic violence, sexually suggestive themes and references to alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Although masquerading as fools who stumble through life in the future as colorful and lovable characters, they still deal with current issues and contemporary themes in life like friendship, love and the inevitable dark, cruel streak of humanity.

In academic essays I have read, a daily dose of laughter can enhance your longevity and can make you perceive life a little brighter and with more hope and optimism. Futurama, as well as other funny cartoons like The Simpsons, American Dad and Family Guy may just be what the doctor ordered because they are sure to smash your funny bone to pieces.
